Info-communication Industry is developing swiftly and violently, and optical fiber communications has many advantages, such as high speed, high capacity, and low cost, therefore the real era of fibre has come. Yet the traditional maintenance measures of cable network is showing obvious limitations for high-efficiency, large-scale and complicated of the current network. The emergence of cable fault location system provides technical assurance for maintenance and management of cable network. However, currently cable fault location system exists defects of locating, which reason is mainly due to two factors. Firstly, detection on OTDR test curve events point such as signal interruption, is not accurate enough, resulting in optical fiber length deviations between the event point and the test starting side. Secondly, it is not a good algorithm to turn the fiber length by testing into the actual fault location.Based on the above analysis, this paper developed and achieved the cable fault location system based on Google Maps which combines analysis of the OTDR test data, Google Maps and other related technologies. This system uses threshold de-noising of the wavelet coefficients to OTDR test curve, and researches the wavelet noise reduction threshold and the selection of wavelet-based, achieves de-noising simulation to OTDR trace signal; then gets the optical fiber length between the event point and the test starting side by applying model predicted of regression analysis; Meanwhile, it adopts the positioning algorithm based on optical fiber splices for determining the actual location of the point of failure, and displays exactly the point of failure on the map by Google Maps; Additionally it builds a resource database to store in a variety of cable information to improve the efficiency of cable management and maintenance. Finally, the actual test argues that error between the the point of failure and the actual survey position is very small. Positioning is quite accurate and reliable.
