Phase-to-ground fault is the highest risk fault type in middle-low voltage distribution network. How to accurately determine the fault location and staff learned the fault information in the shortest possible time, so as to reduce the loss caused by fault, the problem always is the difficult work in the power distribution network research.Multiterminal travelling wave fault location scheme is a method of fault location in real time online. When the line is at fault, through recording the moment that transient fault traveling wave signal is generated by fault point spread to the monitoring device of connecting end of each line, and the data transmit to monitor center using communication technology, monitor center by software processes the data, select the right date to calculation, and according to the calculated results quickly and accurately judge the fault point.Efficient means of communication makes that monitoring station personnel can quickly discover faults and timely processing, greatly reducing troubleshooting time. Therefore this paper rely on the China mobile communication network, use GPRS module transmits the data and access into Internet to set up a data transmission system, to realize the information transmission between the fault monitoring device and the monitoring center, and to determine the fault position.The system consists of three parts:the data transmission terminals, GPRS wireless communication network and the monitoring center’s server. The article designed the software and hardware for the system, the data transmission terminal through a serial port receives fault information from traveling wave fault monitoring device, then using C8051F310microcontroller as the controller and using EM310GPRS wireless communication module to access GPRS network, through GPRS network and Internet send the fault time to monitoring station’s server, and the server will process the information through software program to determine the fault position.
