At present, despite the three main Chinese telecommunication operators have begun thepromotion of3G business, GSM still owns the largest number of users. Because of theless-than-ideal promotion of3G, China Mobile and China Unicom carry on the GSM networkconstruction, which is their main source of profits.Handover process is an important means for GSM digital cellular system and can alsohave significant effects on it. Problems on handover can lead to the low call quality of thewhole network, which directly affect the quality of running network. In a word, handoverprocess is very important in the actual GSM network operation.Besides proposing the background and significance of the topic, this essay shares thehandover algorithms of all major manufacturers, introduces the principles and procedure ofhandover process and signaling procedure of various handover, analyzed the handoveralgorithms mentioned in this essay, goes into the detail of handover decision and the designand implementation solution according to handover decision and execution, improves theeffectiveness and feasibility based on the debugging result, and proposes rational recommendsetting values. At the end of this essay, besides the conclusion, the key points and the futurekey research content are also mentioned.
