It’s a highlight to apply Internet of Things to intelligentize home facilities. The subject ofthe project is Research and Development of Home Monitoring System based on the Internet ofThings. Based on the architecture design of Home Monitoring and Controlling System Basedon Internet of Things, this paper focus on research of universal technology of home usersusing the computer, mobile phone and so on to monitor household and home appliance byvideo and realize Home Monitoring and Controlling System Based on Internet of Things.Research of the paper is of significance on promoting the development of the discipline andthe practical application of measurement and control, the promotion of IOT, development ofIOT and improve smart house technology.The main contribution of this paper are listed as follows:(1)Based on the demand analysis, the paper concludes4technology to fulfill the demandon home monitoring: ZigBee-based home networking, WIFI-based wireless home videomonitoring, GSM-based short-message monitoring and Household monitoring center platformintegration technology. In addition, the home monitoring system is divided into3layersincluding Perception layer, network layer and application layer. The perception layer isdesigned according to ZigBee and WIFI network, and the application layer is user-oriented.(2)This paper analyses and concludes3topology types of ZigBee network, whichincludes star, tree and mesh network. With analysis on different features and functions, wechoose star as the topology type of our ZigBee wireless control network. We also design theZigBee wireless coordinator and circuit at wireless terminal points. The component ofWIFI-based wireless video monitoring system are also analyzed, which includes WTIM andNCAP. our study focuses on the design of WTIM part. WIFI-based wireless transmit andreceive circuit are designed. We also have designed the home monitoring voice module basedon the net of things.(3)This paper also analyses the software demand and chooses Visual Studio2008asdevelop platform of the main controlling program. The GSM based short-message monitoring program is realized with AT instruction. The program has also realize the automatic scanningof household devices and realizes “plug and play”. The WIFI-based wireless video monitoringis also programmed in our study.Test shows that, Home Monitoring and Controlling System Based on Internet of Thingsin this paper has the following features: a plug and play technology, self-organizing network,control mode diversity and co-movement, friendly interface. And the system realizes threeways to control household, which are the SMS control, software control and manual control.The system’s startup will announce welcome speech. Software interface is vivid. And thesystem can run a variety of comprehensive experiments and meet the needs professionalteaching and scientific research of IOT major.
