At present, China’s tourism and some relevant departments have established theirown dedicated website to provide information on the region’s tourism, and manyspecialized business travel site provides visitors with all aspects of information searchand services. As visual, vivid and instructive requirements of tourism information theprovision of travel information service on Internet cannot satisfy the needs of tourists atpresent. In this article we design a system which meets the actual demand of the SunIsland Scenic Area in Harbin. The main function of this system is providing detailedinformation search on scenic area. As offering travelers the most convenient travelinformation search help, travellers can make a comprehensive and detailed plan on theupcoming tour of the scenic area.In this thesis, studies by author contain following aspects: make detailedunderstanding and analysis of the Sun Island Scenic Area in Harbin tourism resources,geographic information systems principles and structure are studied in depth, designedtour geographic information systems according to the actual situation of the Sun IslandScenic, a tourism navigation information system is designd and realized which based onGIS technology.The GIS-based tourism navigation information system for Harbin Sun Island isbased on the database, it’s different from other similar systems is that the system notonly stores the property data, also storing the graphics data (spatial data). GIS is built ona database of spatial information based on the support for spatial data collection,management, processing, analysis, modeling, and display, query and other functions.The tour route information systems consulting multiple travel through the Sun Islandand conducted several classic travel routes within the area, after the edit field trips canprovide a number of itineraries for tourists choose; map drawn with the help of remotesensing images to the site and investigate surface features property, equipped with amap zoom, pan, full map display and other operations functions, and, ultimately, themap information and the combination of the tour route, to reach through the tour routeon the map to achieve the purpose of navigation. System architecture is divided into sub-selection of travel, tourism and travel services to integrated information subsysteminformation subsystem, travel goods shopping sub-system, its interface is clear, concise,and friendly, with good operability.The research and design of geographic information systems of Harbin Sun Islandscenic area tourism navigation is realized in this article. Through this system, travelerscan get valuable and dependable information quickly and particularly, so they canarrange the plan effectively. Its structure also can be transplanted to other scenic areas,to achieve a similar system, in order to promote tourism development.
