Today’s society has entered the period of information and communication, with thecontext of the rapid development of the various information technology, the rich, timeliness and convenience informations is becoming more and more important.Anyone, no matter where they are, want to be able to connect with others seamlessly, which undoubtedly is the human’s dream of communication. Mobile communications isgradually developed to realize this dream.Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology is a multi-carriermodulation technique, and also is the most special one, because it is also a Multiplexing. The OFDM technology Theoretically is a special kind of multi-carrier transmissionscheme, an important cause of much attention in recent years is that it can effectivelyagainst the interference of a narrow bandwidth, as well as effectively reduce thefrequency selective fading.FPGA is a new programmable logic device, which is developed on the basis of theASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit, ASIC) technology, but it’s not entirelyASIC, it’s easier, more practical and more convenient in the development of the actualprojects. In recent years, FPGA devices based on its innovative design, it has been anunprecedented development. Whether logical scale or processing capability, FPGA hasan unprecedented increase, making it has been paid more and more attention in the fieldof mobile communications. Our project was launched by UESTC and CECT54. The project aims at studingand implementing next generation mobile communication system and its physical layerkey technique. So our team are responsible for studing the physical layer standard ofmobile communication systems and the FPGA implementation of its key technologies. My main work includes a physical layer system structure research, physical layer framestructure research, key technology research of the receiver and FPGA implementation. This thesis firstly introduces the OFDM background knowledge as well as thecharacteristics and development of the OFDM system, and then discusses the physicallayer structure and frame structure of a new communications system based on OFDM, and baseband signal processing flows. Next research the algorithm of the keytechnologies of the communication system receiver, including the symbol timingsynchronization algorithm, carrier synchronization algorithm, channel estimation andequalization algorithms, and then invent corresponding simplification algorithmimplemented in hardware. Last, provides the FPGA realization structure of keytechnologies of the receiver in detail. At the end of this thesis, concludes my jobs in theproject team first, and then foresees the development of mobile commtmication.
