Shortwave frequency hopping communication is a kind of spread spectrumcommunication. It is widely used in various communication fields because of its goodanti-interference and anti-fading ability. However, conventional shortwave frequencyhopping communication system has many shortcomings, such as low hopping speed andlow transmission rate, and its performance can not meet the needs of the presentcommunication requirements. A new type of high speed shortwave frequency hoppingcommunication system is designed in the paper, which is a kind of differentialfrequency hopping communication system. It uses the correlation between frequencyhopping signals to carry information data. This system not only has stronganti-interference and anti-fading ability, but also it is important to have high datatransmission rate.The limitations of shortwave frequency hopping communication system wasanalyzed and described based on the communication theory, key technologies andcommunication process in the paper. Also, the communication theory, signalcharacteristics and key technologies of differential frequency hopping communicationsystem are analyzed and researched in this paper. The overall functions of differentialfrequency hopping communication system is implemented on MATLAB7.1softwaresimulation development platform, and the G function, frequency detection technologyand inverse G function are optimized by adjusting the parameters to provide atheoretical basis for the hardware design.The key modules and overall functions of conventional shortwave frequencyhopping system and differential shortwave frequency hopping communication system isimplemented through Virtex4-sx35series FPGA development platform of Xilinxcompany. Then, the anti-interference ability and data transmission rate of differentialfrequency hopping communication system is analyzed on MATLAB7.1softwaresimulation platform, and the superiority of shortwave differential frequency hoppingcommunication system is presented to compare with conventional shortwave frequencyhopping system.
