The Translation And Publishing Of Marxist Literary Theory In China

This thesis is a detailed study on translation and publishing of Marxist literary theory in China. It inspects how social ideology, literary and cultural context, translated and published context influence publication topic selection, translation strategy and publishing form. This paper compares the different historical period detail of translation and publishing activities and translation of Marxist literary theory by inspecting its aim to translation and publishing, translation selection, publishing form, translation features, etc. It is an attempt to research on the process of sinieization of Marxist literary theory.The first chapter discourses Marxist literary theory’s translation and publishing activities from the perspective of social and political background, cultural context, publishing context and translation subject between May4th Movement and1949, emphatically expounding the direct influence exerted by political ideology, social and cultural context, and sponsors.The second chapter discourses Marxist literary theory’s translation and publishing activities from perspective of ideology, publishing policies, literary discipline context between1949and1976, emphatically expounding the misreading to Marxist literary theory under the "Soviet model"The third chapter discourses Marxist literary theory’s translation and publishing activities from perspective of publishing system reform, globalization and cultural exchange since the new era. As ideology gradually being loosen, all sorts of western literary criticism theory have being translated and introduced to China. It is emphatically expounded that the influence exerted to Marxist literary theory’s translation and publishing under the background of literary research discursive fields being expanding.The epilogue part is a brief review and evaluation to the history of Marxist literary theory’s translation and publishing activities, and it’s also a forecast to the the entire Chinese literary theory research. There are many influence factors in the sinieization of Marxist literary theory, and there is a complex relationship between various factors, mutual influence, reciprocal causation-the actual. Therefore it is an important perspective of the development history of Chinese literary theory to observe the translated and published course of Marxist literary theory under historical Materialism view and global vision.
