During recent years, with the gradual enhancing enrollment of schools among differentlevels in our nation, the quantity of students has thus been increasing, previous methods forstudent information management have already gone far from satisfying the requirements ofthe development of schools, which takes on various defects during the process of routinework, therefore the implementation of management informationization has become theinevitable tendency for the development of society. With the rapid development of computernetwork, the process of management informationization in colleges and universities hasdeveloped into high-speed phase, and great changes lie in the field of management mothods incomparison with traditional ways, the wide application of which makes the educationalmanagement of schools in our nation compliant with international standards step by step,heading for the new era of networking and personalized management. Student informationmanagement system commences with the requirements of practical procedures of studentinformation management, implementing thorough and comprehensive for such requirements,utilizing database technology and computer technology as methodic combination, achievingstudent information management through networking management, in order to make themanagement more efficient and normative. If the managers have been adopting traditionalmanagement methods, which have already been out of the pace of times, hence it is an urgentsubject for managers of colleges and universities to develop a set of management systems, thearticle has implemented research and analysis into a series of issues during the process ofinformation management in colleges and universities, and developed a set of studentinformation management system suitable for colleges and universities.The article designed and developmed a set of minitype management information systemadopting B/S structural system,primarily based on some frequent issues in the process ofstudent information management in colleges and universities, in full combination with theactual situations of Students’Affair Devision and student management task of instructors. Inthe whole process of developing the system, Microsoft.NET technology was adopted as thecompilation environment for the whole system, SQL Server2000was selected to designbackground database, tools of Visual Studio2005was utilized to implement development and design, ASP.NET database was chozed to achieve dynamic pages and exchanging generationbetween pages and system interfaces.Through the application of above technologies, it enables the system to be equipped withfundamental data management, student performance management, major management, cousemanagement and functions as management for colleges and departments, we can put it theway that the system developed by the article was an information management system withstrong comprehensive characteristics. Each module has the function to implement addition,deletion, and modification to its own information. The students are able to utilize the systemto inquire performance, while teachers are able to implement student performance analysis,etc. At the meanwhile, it also provided the function to configurate colleges and departments,major management as well as course configuration; besides it is able to implement variousstatistic analysis, such as: number statistics, performance analysis, etc. Not only can suchsystem implement various items of inquiries, it can also print the tables established by theinquiries accordingly.On the basis of the latest research results and practial experience from both domesticallyand abroad, adopting the task of student information management of colleges as developingbackground, taking student management requirements of colleges as developing requirements.The main research contents are listed below:(1) Elaborating on web database management system and operating principle, databasestructural system, access methods of web database and relevant technologies in detail.(2) The article set the period from enrollment to graduation as a cycle, and taking it asbasis dividing student information system into new-student management, registered-studentmanagement and graduate management sub-system, at the meanwhile it included systematicconfiguration sub-system and policy-notifying management sub-system, on whose basisdetailed introduction of specific functions was brought to each functional module.(3) The article introduced logical structure, database conceptual structure, physicalstructure and software architecture of the system in detail.(4) The system adopted Windows2000as its operation platform, utilizing B/S multilayerstructural system, selecting SQL Server2000as systematice database, in order to achieve thetarget of database stability. Moreover it took ASP.NET technology to establish dynamic webpage, adopting ADO.NET technology to link SQL Server2000to ASP.NET.The student information management system designed by the article realized the inputand output of student information, meanwhile it also increased such most frequent specificfunctions as data addition, deletion and inquiry, etc. The system accomplished the configuration of institutions in colleges and universities, classes in different grades, functionalmodules as enrollment management of registered students, financially-wretched-studentsponsorship management, Party and League enrollment management for excellent-student,etc.The development of such system has brought different extents of reduction to the labortensity for either students or teachers, saving time for teachers and administrators, meanwhileit also resulted to cost reduction for colleges and universities, with high reliability, highconfidentiality, low investment, it achieved great enhancement in the efficiency of studentinformation management.
