As an very important component in microwave circuits, microwave filters are widely used in various microwave systems. With the rapid development of the electronics and communication technology, microwave and millimeter wave integrated circuits and related systems are moving toward low cost, high performance, miniaturization and high integration fast. However, a very difficult problem of integrating microwave and millimeter wave circuits and related systems on chip is that higher quality factor passive components which always adopt the coaxial or waveguide forms so that difficult to be integrated, such as filters, couplers, duplexers and other components, are needed in the systems. New substrate integrated waveguide techniques are widely paid attention and developed. Substrate integrated waveguide filters has the advantages of high quality factor, large power capacity, low cost, easy fabrication and integration and so on, so that it is possible to package microwave and millimeter wave systems and integrate them on chip.This paper firstly introduces the research background and research status at home and aboard of substrate integrated waveguide, then the paper gives the theories of traditional filters and cross-coupling filters design. Later in the third chapter, the basic theory of substrate integrated waveguide is clarified. In the fourth chapter, characteristic analysis of split-ring resonator(SRR) and complementary split-ring resonator(CSRR) is made, and three kind of two order SIW-CSRR bandpass filters with different number of rings are designed based on the application of complementary split-ring resonator to substrate integrated waveguide(SIW),with analysis, comparison and processing of real object. In the fifth chapter, dual-band characteristic is realized by asymmetric complementary split-ring resonators, and three kind of two order SIW-CSRR dual-band filters with different number of rings are designed, with analysis, comparison and processing of real object. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulation results.
