Due to the well-known characteristics such as small volume, light weight, com-pact structure, stable performance and high radiating efficiency, waveguide slotantennas are widely used in the ship borne radar, airborne fire-control radar, navigational and satellite systems and other fields. With the rapid development of detec-tion and stealth technology, radar cross section (RCS) reduction techniques as animportant issue in the military field have taken more and more attention by scholars, while the RCS reduction of the antenna which seemed as a special scatterer hasbecome the top priority of the reduction techniques.RCS reduction is a means of enhancing survivability and penetration ability of themilitary target by controlling and reducing its radar characteristic to reduce combateffectiveness of the opponent electronic detection system and weapon platform. Broadwaveguide slot array antennas is a commonly used form in airborne radar which cangenerate very strong RCS in the forward flight of aircrafts, so it has very importantsignificance to research the RCS reduction of the waveguide slot antennas.Firstly, this dissertation introduces research background, significance and thecurrent situation and developments of waveguide slot antennas at home and abroad. Then, based on the research of isolated radiation slot admittance, the18-elementswaveguide linear array and the4×6compact waveguide flat array are proposed, andthe results demonstrate the feasibility of the design method. At last, the waveguide slotantennas which loading different EBG structure is studied. After loading the EBGstructure, simulated results indicate that the RCS of waveguide slot antenna can obtain acertain reduction.
