Antennas are key components of the front of wireless communication systems and radar systems. Millimeter wave antenna has become one of the hot research areas as it has the advantages of wide spectral range, large information capacity and remarkable anti-interference performance. Through controlling the offset of waveguide slot antenna we can get the antenna aperture distribution that we expect, so as to realize the lower side lobe characteristics, which has an important application in the airborne radar and fire control radar. In this article, Ka band waveguide slot array antenna is researched in the following aspects:Firstly, the basic electricity parameters of the antenna, several equivalent circuits of the waveguide slot antenna and the calculation method of slot admittance is introduced in the beginning. Then the relationship between slot admittance, offset distance and resonant length is analyzed and the mutual coupling between slot units and its calculation method is discussed.Secondly, Taylor weighted is widely used in engineering of lower side lobe diameter distribution. This paper is introduced the numerical method of Taylor distribution, and is studied the side-lobe characteristics of the Taylor distribution by the Fourier transform method.Thirdly, combined with slot antenna design theory and software simulation, a sixteen-unit waveguide slot antenna is designed. And then the parameters of the antenna are measured, which are almost coincided with the theoretical simulation. Finally, the pattern of two-dimensional plane array antenna composed of sixteen waveguides is simulated. Then the impact of mutual coupling on the gain and side lobe with simulation results in HFSS is analyzed. According to the experimental data, we simulate phased scanning in MATLAB and get the gate valve position and phase scanning curve of different array element distances.
