LXI, the development of Ethernet technology in the field of instrument, is a newinstrument bus technology, which reserves the merit of GPIB, VXI, PXIinstrumentation bus technology and combines with the most widely used Ethernettechnology, The emergence of LXI is meaningful to the change which is fromautomatic test system to the network distributed system. In the dissertation, we mainlyfocus on the task that how to design and realize a data acquisition device the LXI ClassC specification.Firstly, this paper describes the history and development of measuring andcontrolling bus and LXI bus technologies, as well as analyzing the currently researchstatus of the data acquisition system and determining this issue that LXI dataacquisition functions to be achieved. Secondly, a detailed analysis of key technologiesof the LXI specification and data acquisition technology are given. On this basis, wepropose a MSP430microcontroller-based hardware and software design solutions.Additionally, according to the overall program, we design and debug the LXI dataacquisition hardware circuit. In software design, several key technology has beencompleted, including porting the TCP/IP protocol, realizing in the embedded Webserver system finishing the LXI instrument’s built-page, coding a SCPI commandtranslator, and designing the LXI communication module. Finally, we completed theCS8900A driver design and the software program design of the data acquisition devicebased on LXI.
