Low density parity check (LDPC) codes which are a class of near ShannonLimitation channel codes based on sparse parity-check matrix were proposed in1962byGallager. With their outstanding performance, LDPC codes have been widely used inthe communication field. High date rate and high performance transmission will be thekey technology in future wireless communication systems. Therefore, designinghigh-performance LDPC codec is now one of the hotspots. In this paper, history and basic concept of LDPC codes are introduced briefly.Several classic encoding and decoding methods are studied. QC-LDPC codes which canbe utilized in high throughput codec are introduced. The construction of QC-LDPCcodes is analyzed in detail, and the performance is obtained by simulation. The designof the QC-LDPC encoder is presented, and the existing decoder architecture ispresented. The result that the bottleneck of high throughput partially decoder is memoryaccess collision is given, and three methods to avoid memory access collision arediscussed. Based on the method called code transformation, several improvements havebeen made, and a highly paralleled decoder architecture is proposed. The design andimplementation of high throughput (8176,7156) Finite-Geometry QC-LDPC codec ispresented. |
