Micro-Computed Tomography is a non-destructive3D imaging technique.Compared to ordinary clinical CT, it has the characteristics of high resolution, smallimaging area, relatively low price and so on. This paper is committed to design andimplement a Micro-CT software for small animals based on MITK(Medical ImagingToolKit) which provides algorithms support, then it analyzes and discusses the thedesign of system control and data acquisition, three-Dimensional reconstruction anddata processing and analysis these three functional modules respectively.This paper firstly gives a introduction to the research background, imagingprinciples, significances and current research status of Micro-CT,and makes a briefoverview of the composition and application of MITK used in software design.Micro-CT system control and data acquisition is the only component directlyassociated with hardware. We make use of MITK, Qt(a graphic user interfaceapplication framework) and hardware SDK(Software Development Kit) to designsoftware platform based on hardware architecture which has been set up well. Inthree-Dimensional reconstruction section, standard FDK reconstruction algorithm isintroduced firstly, and the means of FDK algorithm acceleration using GPU hardwareis elicited, then we discuss the design of three-dimensional reconstruction software indetail with algorithms of TFDK, based on CPU and GPU acceleration provided byMITK. Data processing and analysis is the kernel framework of the whole software.We discuss the overall goal and architecture of software design before its building, andintroduce the implementation of system kernel, Plugin SDK, Plugin respectively. TheConstruction of these three functional modules is the key to achieve Micro-CTsoftware for small animals, but also constitute the main tasks of this article.Each modules is applied to verify the implementation after its building at the lastof chapters. The whole software, containing all kinds of functions, has the capacity ofcross-platform and scalability.
