Nowadays, it is difficult to achieve effective interconnection, intercommunication,and interoperability among information systems, and some problems exist in data andinformation sharing. To solve the increasingly serious problem of the "information silo"phenomenon, system integration is the only way. Versatile need and runtimeenvironment ask system integration for dynamic demand. However, the traditionalcomponent-based and service-oriented system integration technologies are unable tomeet this requirement. Agent is an entity with the characteristics of autonomy, initiative,sociality etc. It has the technological features of component-based and service-oriented,providing a new and referencable idea for the system dynamic integration.The paper focuses on the process of applying the characteristics of agent to thesystem integration, proposing the supportive strategies and implementation mechanismsfor the dynamic property of system integration. First, the paper gives an agent-basedframework of system dynamic integration. Then three supportive strategies andmechanisms for the dynamic property are proposed, including dynamically updating,adding and deleting the integrated unit, dynamically switching and updating the logic ofintegration, and dynamically recovery the exceptions in integration collaboration. Onthis basis, the paper designs and implements a collaboration-controlling engine which isclosely related with the dynamic property, and a dynamic monitoring tool which isbased on the system dynamic changes to facilitate the observation and control for therelevant features of the dynamic property.Finally, the paper takes one distributed system as a test case in which agent-basedsystem integration is tested, to verify the contents proposed in this paper. Experimentalresults show that the proposed supportive strategies and implementation mechanismsfor the dynamic property of system integration adapt to requirements of system dynamicintegration. Meanwhile the dynamic monitoring tool realizes effective monitoring forthe relevant contents of the dynamic property.
