Android-based Handheld Terminal Learning System

Today, distance education is more and more popular and mobile learning is a thriving research area. It provide users the messages which they want to know by utilizing the mobile computing technology in the based of digital learning. Users can access the needed messages at anytime which makes the learning is socialization and continued.Android is an open-source mobile operation system which is published by Google in November2007. The mobile terminal platform in this paper is based of Android which is developed using Java and run on the Dalvik virtual machine. The main module include the authentication system using single sign-on technology, RSS-based on line reading system, the online answering system based on Jabber, the automated reminder system using Service and the online training system.In the development process with the characteristics of mobile development t single sign-on technology, Service,the network communication protocol, data format, embedded database technology, XML parsin and other key issues were studied. All the components were completed in a simulated vitual machine. By using the terminal platform, mobile users can access to rich content summary selectively by the abstract of the context;teachers and students Q&A module questions through the online discussion component, through a single sign-on technology into the learning platform can be convenient and notisfy the important learning information in the automatically reminded part.
