With the development of multimedia technology, device-embedded with thefunction of multimedia has been applied into various fields. As the improvement ofperformances for device-embedded as well as the development of traditional technology,multinuclear device-embedded began to attract more and more attention, thus, it will bea significant trend for the multimedia technology development to research imagecompression at the level of multinuclear processor.In the first part of this article, situation of study for image compression andembedded level are introduced, with the analysis of significance and possibility forimage compression at multinuclear level, besides that, the standards of JPEG imagecompression are described in details and following with the principles of compression;Then, much attention has been put into the research of OMAP3530binuclearcommunication and dispatching technology as well as exploitation mode of primexsys,which make it available for JPEG image compression. The quantized algorithm isimproved, meanwhile, what assembler language becomes the code of DCT andquantized algorithm are available with IMGLIB, what’s more, the delivery of imageinformation is achieved by DMA, JPEG algorithm is improved on the basis of the aboveefforts. With the combination of binuclear technology to analyze the parallelism ofcompression process, choosing ARM and DSP paralleling to make a better result; At theend of this article, the comparison of before and after optimization is available bymeasuring compression time.This article aims at providing references for application of image compression atthe level of multinuclear processor.
