Coal preparation plant is an important part in a coal mine enterprise, which screensand crushes the raw coal, before transporting to the other workshops, where it will getfollowing disposal. So, in order to guarantee the regular production of the whole factory,we must make the equipments in the coal preparation plant function properly.Along with the technical development of computer science, control and network,especially the development of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, the newgeneration monitor and failure diagnosis system will become the main stream, which hasthree main features. First, the use of Internet of Things has expanded the informationcoverage. Users can refer to all kinds of real time information and historical data ofmechanical parts, equipments workshops factories, and even the information of people.Second, the system distributes the information and data to the Internet, so users can referto them wherever they are and at anytime they want. Third, the new generation failurediagnosis systems have intelligent methods, without which the traditional systems can’tadapt the development trend of large-scale and complex modern machinery. Theseintelligent methods such as expert system, neural network and decision tree have madetremendous contribution to the machinery failure diagnosis.This paper mainly achieves the intelligent failure diagnosis in the whole system. Atfirst, the background and the development of this research topic are described. Secondly,based on the working principle and vibration characteristics, the failure diagnosis methodsof rotary machines, including settling centrifugal machine and double roll crusher, aresummarized. Thirdly, the hardware structure and the software structure of the wholesystem are introduced. Finally, based on the neuter network expert system, design andrealize a rotor failure diagnosis experimental platform, using the software LABVIEW andMATLAB. The platform obtains characteristic data of the operating rotor and gives thediagnosis result report through the intelligent methods, which lays foundations for theaccomplishment of the whole project.
