Expert system is one of the main research directions in artificial intelligence, which uses computer programs addressing problems only experts in the field of human can resolve. Expert system studies knowledge, including knowledge acquisition, expression and utilization. Its ability to problem-solving largely depends on the quantity of knowledge and quality. Failures of large equipment are quite complex and difficult to express in a simple mathematical model which can only be solved by experienced human experts. For it excellent in expressing and dealing with such enlightening experience, expert system is quite popular in the field of Failure Diagnose.Radio, which is an important means in transmitting information, is necessary communicant equipment in campaign command, army management and daily training. In order to adapt to military transformation and win high-tech local wars in the world in the future, military troops are equipping a large number of high-tech, high performance and advanced communicant equipment, including military communicant radio in recent years. Thus there is a phenomenon that new and old radios being used together, with the original radio also being used. Our army currently adopts three maintaining levels, grass-roots level, relay level and the base level (the factory level). Because of difference in quality and experience of maintainers, resulting different in the progress of the repairs, which is more important and particularly evident in the sensitive period. For all kinds of problems intelligent failure detecting system in military radio communications springs out.This paper discusses the design and implementation of intelligent failure detecting system in military radio communications.Firstly,introduction the significance of the establishment of the system and background. Secondly,the expert system, artificial neural network and fuzzy sets theory were outlined.By comparing the characteristics of the various methods,decided to use expert systems to achieve the design of intelligent fault detection system.and focused on inference engine and knowledge base.THirdly,in the guidance of the relevant knowledge,proposed the system design.Complete the knowledge base and the inference engine design.Finally,the main function of the realization of system were finished.
