In recent years, the security of the coal mine production have been paid moreand more attention, making the safety of the coal mine production constantly im-proved.But due to the complex environment of underground coal mines, many placesstill exist security risks, leads to the coal mine safety accidents occur frequently.From the currently exposed underground security issues, mostly due to the imper-fections of the coal mine safety monitoring system: during normal operationin the underground, cannot know the working situation of the underground personnelin time; and when the accidents occur, cannot know the location, quantity and otherrelevant information of the underground personnel in time, which brings great incon-venience to the relief work. So selecting appropriate positioning technology to orien-tate and monitor for the underground personnel and equipment is of great signific-ance.Based on the research results of laboratory team “based on the ZigBee net-work of underground personnel positioning system”design this paper. This paperstudies the technology of Chirp Spread Spectrum, compare the ZigBee, UWB andother short distance wireless communication technology, analyze the features andadvantages of CSS wireless sensor network technology, design a wireless sensornetwork which based on CSS underground personnel positioning system. In the com-plex environment of underground, underground personnel directly carry positioninglabels, via a predetermined arrangement of the positioning base station and gateway,they will make the staff information feedback to the computer terminal monitoringsoftware so that they can orientate and manage the underground personnel in time.The system is able to reflect the the location, number and other relevant information ofpersonnel,and it is good for the rescue work when underground emergencies occur.This article designs a set of CSS underground positioning hardware and soft-ware systems according to the previous studies, choosing the RF module of the na-noPAN5375, provided by the Germany Nanotron company;The PC software isbased on the PC monitoring software LocationGUI,and completed by the seconddevelopment for the LEServer on the bases of some interface functions provided by the Germany Nanotron company;The location algorithm using the TDOA cross-correlation operation, deduced TDOA positioning model and combined with theKalman filtering algorithm for calculating equation, in order to improve positioningaccuracy.Positioning experiments in the simulation of the underground mine environment,the positioning results were analyzed, and experimental results show that this under-ground personnel monitoring system with low power consumption,anti-interferenceability and high positioning accuracy. Finally, a summary of the subject as well asprospects for the future, the system also need to refine and improve content.
