Wireless sensor network (WSN) which is made up of manyadvanced technologies such as integrated circuits, sensors, embeddedcomputation, wireless communications and distributed informationprocessing etc, is a totally new mode of acquiring, transmitting andprocessing information. So it is becoming the domestic and internationalmultidisciplinary research hotspot in IT domain.ZigBee is a specialized communication protocol used in WSN.It has the merits of agreement simply, the power loss low, the network ability strong, the network capacity big, when extended shortand the cost is low and so on. It also has the functions of way choice, automatically links the network and self-recovery. Therefore ZigBee gradually becomes the preferred network protocol for WSN.This thesis begins with researching ZigBee background and protocol structure. According to the exploitation principle for embedded system, Iuse the SoC chip AS3310D based on ARM core as the MCU of thecoordinator, router and end device, use the CC2420chip as the RFmodule and the establish a platform for WSN. I have set up across-compiler environment for the software design of the node underLinux operating system. I focus on the design of ZigBee protocol stack, network formation, and realization of data multi-hop transmission. As for the channel interfered problem in2.4GHz frequency, Ipropose a frequency hopping mechanism based on time synchronizationin non-beacon network, which can solve the disadvantage in frequencyhopping after the event effectively, such as network maintained difficultyand bringing excessive energy consumption, etc. And, I haveaccomplished the hopping mechanism on the hardware. Finally I have done the test of all system functions.
