Embedded applications, which were originally built on standalone devices, nowadaysrequire a growing integration with other systems through their interconnection with TCP/IPnetworks. Web Services, which provide a service-oriented distributed architecture for theinterconnection of systems through TCP/IP networks, have been widely adopted for theintegration of business applications, but this sort of integration is still rarely provided byembedded applications. Great interest from the industry has been aroused since the WebServices emergence. Web Services are now being respected as the successful precept in thesettlement of heterogeneous applications interoperation, and its success lies in solving thedifferent hardware platforms, different operation systems and the different programminglanguage to exchange data. Web applications are more and more popular, especially with webapplications and the application system of distributed structure have been appeared in thedaily lives of you and me. With the development of network technology and the changes ofthe market requires, it becomes possible and necessary that the embedded devices connectinto the internet with the traditional application of functional integration. Embedded WebServices make easier to implements remote management and to remotely obtain the functionsand services of those equipments.The purpose of Web Services is cross-platform interoperability, which is benefited fromSOAP protocol. Therefore, to implement embedded Web Services, embedded devices musthave the ability to process SOAP data. This paper mainly studies the HTTP, XML and SOAPand realizes the Web Services for the embedded devices,which aims to build a newframework and its prototype for embedded security system.In the main part of this paper explains firstly the advantages of Web Services technology,and merits to show the feasibility of introducing Web Services architecture into embeddeddevices. Then, different models of supplying or invoking Web Services on embedded devicesare demonstrated from the point of view of application architecture. The paper focus on introduction to the Web Services which realizes the message communication in the keytechnique of Web Services, and analyzed embedded Web Services deeply, include SOAPmessage process framework, expansibility, process model, service implementation etc. Andthen, this paper architects and designs a lightweight Web Service which is aiming forembedded system. Finally, based on Linux platform, this paper constructs an applicationsystem of embedded Web Services oriented to the security system and presents the detailedscenario and practice.The technique of Web Services develops continuously, and uses it on the embeddeddevices which only possess limitary resource, need further research and investigate. Therefore,at the end of this paper, discusses and prospects the needs which may be appears in theprocess of the designing and implementing of the embedded Web Services.
