Construction And Application Of Hepatitis Virus Protein Domain Ontology

As a technical term first discussed in philosophy area，ontology wasused by philosophers to describe objectively about phenomenon，activitiesand things in the world. With the development of computer science andtechnology, ontology’s function of describing nature of objective things hasbeen gradually realized by scholars in the area of computer, artificialintelligence and so on. Based on the philosophical meaning of ontology,scholars in the field of computer made a further extension of the definition ofontology, and use it to describe the concepts and relationships in a domain. Inthe domains such as computer and information organization, ontology doesnot only define and describe the important concepts in the field of knowledgeaccurately, but also actually defines and describes the semantic relationshipsbetween concepts, so as to achieve the goal of knowledge representation andorganization variously and semantically. In recent years, both research andapplication of ontology in China and abroad develop quickly. Both theoretical and empirical research, as well as technical means to achieve andapplications are in the ascendant.This dissertation not only introduced the state of ontology research inChina and foreign countries, but also described the theory and methodsrelated to ontology.. In order to verify the feasibility of the establishment of aknowledge organization system using，this paper tries to construct a domainontology about hepatitis virus protein for the first time in the country usingthe seven-step method put forward by Stanford University and theopen-source software it developed. Through the establishment of conceptsand sematic relationship between concepts, the paper described the domainknowledge of hepatitis virus protein. Through the modeling process, thispaper verified the applicability of ontology construction tools and methods,summed up a process of building domain ontology and provided a model forthe application of ontology theory in the field of biomedical. This studymainly includes ontology related theoretical studies, domain ontologyconstruction methods and tools, hepatitis virus protein ontology building, aswell as application of hepatitis virus protein ontology in retrieval.
