With the rapid development of internet technologies, embedded technology,and high-definition imaging sensor technology, the paper proposed a new videosurveillance system which based on embedded technology and web technology.This video surveillance system depends on embedded system.The system usesthe HD CMOS camera image sensor to gather the video, then sent the video tothe borswer via the Web server which erected on the embedded system after thevideo be compressed.The client could view the video after decoding, and this ishow the system works. There are three innovations in this system: In order toimprove the clarity using the HD COMS camera instead of the analog to gethervideo data; The whole hardware is based on embeded system,it not only savesthe volume efficentily, but also consumes energy in low; The transmission ofvideo data is depends on the internet, that means the dedicated communicationsnetwork is never required,and, with the structure of B/S, the installation andmaintenance is not need anymore.At first, this paper introduces the development of video surveillance and thereason why the study of this system takes, then makes a introduction of embedded technology, web server technology, video compression, codingtechniques and how the system works. To show the structure of the hardware ofthe surveillance system, it gives the circuit schematic in detial about every partfrom the power modul to the core system of cpu in chacpter3. After thehardware system established,in chapter4, the paper transplanted the core ofLinux operating system,and enriched the software environment which includethe creation of yaffs2file system, the taranplantion of the CMOS camera driver,the tranplantion of Boa web server and so on. Chapter5finished the applicationsofaware of video capture, compression, encoding and sending. Chapter6givesa detial of how the whole system works, then makes a test of the system. Theresult of the test shows the system works smoothly, and achieves the totallyfunction of video surveillance. At the end of the article concludes the system andmakes a outlook for the future development trends.
