China high-definition optical disc industry alliance with both blue-ray and red-raytechnology, dedicated to unify the application layer format, in order to improve thecompetitiveness. The application data format specifies the stream and metadata format,and their organization on disc data. How to design a reasonable format which offers thebest data organization and access features for playback is the problem we need to study.Optical disc has its own characteristics, such as low performance of Random reading,error-prone, access and verify by block. So, the stream multiplexing divided into physicallayer and multiplexing layer, deal with the interleaving, synchronization and storageindependence, separately. Active fault tolerant, redundant metadata, are purpose to reducethe error rate. Package structure uses the dynamic head to minimize space consumption,improving the load factor. Design a metadata structure’s hierarchy, which contains videoobject set, time index, title, playback chain and global movie information. In this way,provides the features for playback, such as stream select, time location, scene restructuring.Using FFmpeg’s multiplexing framework, we got the overall module by inserting the twolayer structure. While achieve a platform-independent component for a variety ofoccasions demultiplexing. In the end, we use a custom image generation module togenerate the file system, and locate the metadata and its backup file to the two track of thedisc, to increase the reliability.Test results show that the stream multiplexing, image generation, demultiplexingprocess can proceed smoothly. The load rate is higher than the Blu-ray discs, lower thanthe MP4format slightly. The other modules achieve the desired effect too. So, the Solutionwe provided is feasible.
