With the maturity and rapid development of machine vision technology, the scopeof machine vision’s application in the industrial production in the future will be moreand more widely, and the role of it playing will become increasingly important.Industrial camera is a very important part of a machine vision system, and it completeimage acquisition of the object and signal processing, and at last transfer the imagedata to the host computer. Therefore, industrial camera is the base of machinevision system’s image processing to extract the Eigenvector and backing to controlthe action of field devices.The purpose of this paper is to design an industrial camera which is based on color,linear array CCD and will be used in optical and mechanical system and bar diameterdetection and other industrial applications. The main work of the study includes:select optical lens in the optical system and design optical lighting subsystem and thebase of camera; design the color linear array CCD image acquisition module;determine the image noise processing algorithm and achieve it with FPGA; design thecommunication module between industrial and host computer.In the optical system, we have calculated the optical parameters and selected thelens, and designed the base of camera according to CCD’s mechanical dimensions. Inthe optical lighting subsystem, we have selected LED as a light source andCorazon illumination optical path to produce the stable parallel light.The design, using FPGA as the master chip and the design method of EDA top todown, drive and control the CCD chip KLI-2113, the signal processing chip AD9945to complete image acquisition and signal processing; use hardware descriptionlanguage to describe median filtering algorithm to remove the noise of the image; atlast according to the Camera link and USB communication protocols, combine withthe corresponding interface chip to design communication module of industrialcamera based on FPGA.The whole system at first is divided into several modules to carry out the design, simulation, testing. After then integrate every module into a complete system anddebug the system. At last verify the functions of the system by experiments andachieve the objectives of research.
