Wireless network as the primary network access technology, the current networkperformance has been unable to meet people’s demand, so improving the network capacity ofwireless networks has become the industry’s research hot.Network coding has overturned the conventional routing, making the network capacityof multiple broadcast be the extreme value. However, the conventional network codingtechniques are researched in the single-channel case, resulting in the limitation of theimproved for the network performance; currently, multi-channel technology is a keytechnique that improved the wireless network capacity has been arousing wide concern. Sothis paper combines the network coding and the multi-channel technology, and analyze theadvantage for the multi-channel network coding compared with the single-channel networkcoding. We propose a novel coding-aware based on multi-channel assignment—High-Codingopportunity Low Interference Channel Assignment, which ensure the connectivity of thenetwork topology firstly. And the cross-layer design could obtain node which owns thehighest coding opportunity. The experiment results show the throughput has a notableimprove compared with the conventional COPE protocol. In the wireless network, the packets may not reach to the destination node because theunreliable of the wireless link, the rate of loss packet as high as20%-40%in some specificenvironment. The condition of the use of network coding is that the decoding node shouldreceive enough native packets in order to decoding the coding packet. However, theunreliable of the link may lead to the decoding node always can not receive the requirednative packets, which resulting in the decoding failure. Required to retransmit native packetsthat used to decoding and this is called “Coding Recovery”. So we propose a networkCoding-Based network Coding Recovery which is named as CBCR. During the codingrecovery process the CBCR combines the network coding technology, retransmitting thecoding packet to the decoding failure node. This method decreases the transmission times andimprove the performance for application of network coding. The experiment is well doneusing Sun SPOT, and the results show the performance has been improved compared with theconventional COPE protocol.
