With the continuous development of the GSM network, the optimization of wirelessnetworks gets more and more attention. The interference of wireless networks have become animportant factor in network quality and transmission reliability, in order to ensure thecommunications network to operate effectively, and make the users able to communicate witheach other without interference, it must find interference of the network timly, then locate andtroubleshoot. This is one of the important issues of concern throughout various stages of thenetwork construction, alteration, expansion and optimization. Therefore, how to locate thelocation of the source of interference more easily and accurately has become a hot issue. Now the most commonly used interference location is generally carried out through thespectrum analyzer, with the Antenna of vehicle-mounted and exceedingly directional, to analyzethe characteristics of the signal frequency domain and extracte the interference signal of thesignal, gradually approaching towards the direction of interfering signals at the same time. In thisprocess,it need to constantly adjust the antenna pointing timly, then find the location of thesource of interference at last. Although the operation of this method is relatively simple, but itsequipment is heavy, its investment is high and the workload is also heavy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a approach for using the theory of radio wavepropagation modeling to target to the source of interference. After researching the localizationalgorithm and its principle of the various today’s mainstream sources of interference, it selects apoint scattering algorithm and three-points location algorithm as the basic algorithm, and takesinto two standards of the GSM-900, DCS-1800or GSM-1800, Ultimately derives the improvedversion of the interference source localization algorithm, and passes the simulation of Matlab, bycombining the two empirical models of Okumura-Hata and COST-231Hata. By comparing, wefind that three-point location algorithm is more simple and less error in practical applications. So, in the practice of interference optimization project at Wenzhou Unicom, using three-pointalgorithm as the basic algorithm of the positioning, the location of the interference source islocated within the range of allowable error. This method greatly shortens the time of finding thesource of interference, reduces the cost of the Positioning, improves the efficiency and ensuresit’s real-time. It provides an effective practical application for locating sources of interference.
