With the development of Infrared Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) and the maturity of the infrared image processing technology, the application of the infrared thermograph system becomes wider and wider. For detecting material and technical reasons, leading to the infrared image high-noise, low-contrast, poor-resolving power and nonuniformity, so research on infrared image processing algorithm has important significance. The paper researches and analyzes the infrared image histogram equalization algorithm,2D-TDI algorithm, edge detection algorithm and discrete wavelet transform image enhancement methods in order to enhance the identification of infrared image. Also the paper designs some of the real-time infrared image processing algorithm based on FPGA. Meanwhile, the idea of modular and pipeline design make the algorithm improved in hardware processing speed. The paper also explores the infrared image processing based on FPGA hardware platform, the heart of CMOS type, the principle, structure of modular circuits have been analyzed, which achieved initial results.
