As the streaming media, the most critical technology is the transmission of media resource. Now the three main streaming media systems, include C/S mode, multi-cast mode and CDN mode, all have their disadvantage. At present, P2P technology is one of the means to be able to resolve the streaming media transmission isuue. The combination of P2P and streaming media service system can make full use of resource and reduce the pressure of server, while the integration of the user resources involved.P2P technology has lacks a mechanism of management and control, so how to be integrated of P2P with management and controllable into streaming media service is the critical study of this thesis. Combining the advantages of the management in IMS and the resource research in P2P technology should be implemented in the streaming media architecture. This thesis proposes an IMS-based P2P streaming system architecture with adding an IMS-P2P Layer between Control Layer and Transmission Layer. In this layer, a new functional entity is deployed, which is called Super Management Point (SMP). SMP as a super point and the functionalities of transmission layer constructs a controllable and semi-distributed P2P Network to support streaming media service. This thesis gives the mothed of architecture, such as the node and organization, resource discovery and transport mechanism, the user’s charging management and so on. The simulation results show the advantages of this improved system in the media resource control, the media resource search, and the server load balancing.
