Ocean is very important in twenty first century. China is a major ocean country.Developing marine resources and developing marine economy have not only becomean important growth point of national economy of the coastal countries, but alsobecome the forefront of the sustainable development strategy. To develop and useocean, marine observation technology is needed to provide technical support. InChina, profile measurements use multiple sets of sensors. This method is veryexpensive. In order to reduce the cost of the profile measurements, a new marinemonitoring equipment using only one set of sensors measuring profile is needed.This paper is dedicated to study and design a control system for moored profilemeasuring platform which is a new type profile measuring equipment. Its maincontroller is CR1000which is a data logger. This new platform has one set of sensorsand a motor. It is capable of measuring temperature, salinity, depth, wave parametersand profile current, etc.Two control schemes are discussed: time scheme, time and pressure scheme.Time control scheme could work accurately, but the measuring depth of mooredprofile measuring platform cannot guarantee. Time control scheme is mainly used forlab debug. Time and pressure scheme uses pressure to guarantee the depth, and it ismainly used for practical application. This paper also designed a dual data system formoored profile measuring platform. This dual data system could make sure that datais stored and read right and safe. First data is distributable stored, and is read bysensor’s computer software through CR1000; second data is stored together inCR1000, and is read by moored profile measuring platform’s computer software.There are eight parts in this paper. First part discusses the status of profilemeasurement, and research content and research significance of this paper are giveout. Second part gives an overview of moored profile measuring platform and studiesthe self balance of this platform, and divides control system into four modules. Thirdpart studies control system, two control schemes is discussed and compared at here.The fourth part introduces the function of communication module. The fifth partdescribes effective and secure dual data system. The sixth part introduces theperipheral circuit of the control system. The seventh part analysis the test and debugresult. The eighth part summarizes this paper and outlooks the future work.
