The Research And Practice Of Building A Video Management Platform For The National Fencing Team Based On Drupal

With the rapid development of digital television technology and video compressionalgorithms, high-definition video with its prominent advantages has become an important tool inthe sports training. At present, almost all countries have attached great importance to the videos ofsporting events and daily training. By accumulating, sorting and using of high-tech means such asinformation technology, network technology and multimedia technology etc, they analyze thetechnical and tactical characteristics for each key team members of the other country. As a result,they get a set of detailed data of the counterparties. According to the data, they have developedindividualized training programs and technical and tactical playing methods for their key players.This method has successfully applied to various events to improve the achievements of theathletes.The national fencing team has established a complete and integrity video database throughyears of accumulation. But the management of these video data is not scientific, mainly dependingon the artificial management. As a result, the searching, distributing, and using of the videos has alot of difficulties. The national fencing team has an urgent need to establish a fully functionalvideo data management platform, in order to achieve the classification of videos, search accordingto the conditions and easy access to video sharing. As the World Championships, OlympicCandidacy tournament are in progress and the London Olympics is about to begin, there will be alot of videos added to the video database. So the video management platform must be establishedimmediately.This paper proposes a method of building a video management platform for the nationalfencing team, and will make a thorough study and set it up at the end. The platform adopts thedevelopment mode of the epdemic video sites such as Youtube. It sets up an FTP server and HTTPserver, applying the open source content management system Drupal as a platform. By using themultimedia technology, network technology and database technology, the platform has achieved the sorting, finding and sharing of the video data easily. As the national fencing team’s videos arealmost in MPEG format, the platform uses FFmpeg to convert videos to FLV format for onlinedistribution and web browsing. It uses the third-party modules of Drupal, Media Mover, to collect,process, store and distribute the video files.
