Semiconductor lasers or laser diodes (LD) are widely used in industrial military medical communication and so on, because of their unique advantages such as small size, low power, high conversion efficiency. But because of the output beam’s quality is poor, and power is not high. To a certain extent, these questions limited its application, so the research in this area has always been concerned. In the paper, the research focuses on the semiconductor laser beam collimation, analysis the cylindrical lens alignment feature make use of ray-tracing method, and determined the installation distance of the cylindrical lens used. Discuss the polarization properties of semiconductor lasers, and the main factors affect the output beam polarization are analyzed on theory. Based on the linear polarization of laser from semiconductor lasers, with the polarization multiplexing technology, through the beam collimator and combining, two laser diodes whose wavelength is808nm are coupled into a multi-mode fiber, with a core diameter of200μm and a numerical aperture (NA) of0.22. The fiber output power is2.84W at current2.0A with coupling efficiency more than83%.
