The most commonly used access control systems are generally built on single-chip. Suchsystems are simple and less efficient. To solve these problems, the access control system based onARM and embedded Linux is studied. The system uses Samsung’ S3C2440as the processor andvirtual machine Fedora10as an experimental platform in which Fingerprint recognition technologyis also used. Making full use of the advantages of ARM microprocessor and the portability of Linuxsystems provided a viable solution for the access control system.Firstly, gives an introduction of access control system at home and abroad. The topic studiesthe characteristics of embedded systems and ARM technology.Secondly, designs the hardware modules and the driver of fingerprint reader. In order toachieve the function of networking, studies the configuration of embedded web. Analyzes the levelstructure and operational mechanism of Linux systems, and build an embedded Linux system.Learns the fingerprint recognition algorithm and designs the communication protocol betweenfingerprint reader module and control module. Using the GUI tools QT, the basic functions ofaccess control system is completed. At last, the access control system is tested combined with the fingerprint sensor FPS200invirtual machine environment. The results show that the system is correct and feasible.
