The21st century humans entered the development and utilization of new era, ocean global technology has entered the frontiers of the technological competition, and become the focus of international against one of comprehensive strength. China isa developing country, and there is a huge population pressures on resources and thelarge territory, which any country in the world are difficult to compare. Ocean scienceand technology development, especially the ocean high-tech has become the newtechnology revolution the important content, Ocean technological advances havemeasured as the overall level of national science and technology and the importantindexes and Ocean power. Underwater imaging technology has been made morecomprehensive results at both home and abroad, but now even the attenuation of lightwater is very serious. The main purpose of this paper is to try on real underwaterimages’ enhancement, and improve the images’ quality. In order to obtain more clear image information, we first by a new underwaterimage detection methods-underwater Inhomogeneous Optic Field target detectionmethod, so we can gain greater distances and clearer underwater image, then theimage enhancement to obtain more conducive to images rendered advancedprocessing, and is more suitable for human’s visual characteristics and machinerecognition requirements. This paper describes the current method and development of the major trends ofunderwater image enhancement firstly. Then through the underwater target ofinhomogeneous optic field detection method, get the images which can betterovercome the background noise and scattering. After that, the paper introduces severalcommon methods and improved methods of underwater image enhancement, which were verified by experiment and analysis of real underwater images.
