In this paper, using the original image which is obtained under inhomogeneous illumination to do the image fusion is novel. The innovation of this method is combining two underwater processing methods in turbid underwater research, doing Gaussian smoothing process. And then compare the Laplacian pyramid which is from difference of Gaussian smoothing process images. Experiment show that this method is suitable for underwater image color correction. The final image obtained from turbid water is become vivid and have high contrast.With the high speed development of the science technology, land resources are less than ever. People start to explore the ocean resources. From the satellite map, the ocean area of earth is far more than the land area of earth. The ocean resources are very rich. Our country China has a coastline as long as 18000 km, if make full use of it, it will offer giant benefit for our county’s economy development and long term development.Underwater imaging technology is a skill to understand ocean, which can prospect submarine landform、monitoring of the underwater environment、doing research on marine biology, and so on. This research got attention by researchers at home and abroad. While, the image obtained from underwater is always bluish, the color of it is different from which is obtained from the air. We all know that the color of the underwater image is important for underwater researching. The key problem of the color distortion is scattering and absorption. People can’t get the true color of the underwater subject exactly. Especially the environment pollution is more and more seriously, the pollution is already threatened marine. The quality of water is poorer than ever. Got a high definition and vivid color image in turbid water is a great challenge for underwater research. Until now, according to the special character of the ocean, researchers can’t propose a mature method to solve this problem.Recently, research on underwater image color correct is improving in home and abroad. This paper is proposing a new fusion method to correct the color of the underwater image in extremely poor visibility. Inhomogeneous illumination is used as a lighting equipment to get a better vision in turbid water. Then, underwater image color character process is used to deal with the color of the image and underwater image fuzzy remove process is used to get better contrast. At last, fusion method is used to retain the details of two input images and remove the disadvantages of them. The color of the final underwater image is vivid and has more details.
