The watchword of “Digital Earth inAction” has given strong impetus to thedevelopment of GIS, GPS, VR and wireless network communication technologyintegration. Mobile compute and virtual reality with mobile internet technology aspowerful force, brings new opportunities to GIS technology. Thus an exciting creaturewas born–mobile geographic information system. At the same time, the demand oflocation-based services (LBS) growing, and with the integral performanceimprovement of GPS location technology, communication technology and electroniccomputers, the combine of LBS and mobile GIS becomes reality, and play a role inprofessional areas and application areas.LBS, mobile GIS and mobile network are the main research content of this thesis.This thesis has researched and developed a complete services-oriented mobilegeography information service platform, and takes project of country innovation fundfor technology based firms–Web3D/SNS virtual community based geography andlocation services for an example, introducing the applications of this platform. Thecomprehensive of spatial data management, real-time location and tracking, mobileelectronic map development has made mobile geography information service platformbased on LBS express the spatial information with graphic visualization approach. Itsupplies effectively method for people to get special spatial information, helps peoplefind mutual relationship and law implicit in geography data. The platform realizes themobile graphic user interface development to present interactive experience as realworld for users and assist users understand the real environment. The work main tohighly integrate GPS, GSM, GPRS, GIS and mobile terminals and make highlyprecision map rendering, accurate real-time location and tracking, spatial geographyinquire. Besides, this work researches other GIS spatial information service functionsuch as the overlay of vector data and Internet map. Finally, this thesis takes “Campus mobile car pools for transportation serviceplatform” for application example, and introduces the development procedure of themobile geography information service platform based on LBS in Android platformand the application of car pools for transportation functions.
