IOT technology collects information of environment through a variety of sensors, according to the agreed protocol, transfer the information to the application platform for processing and achieve the goal of intelligent control. IOT technology is gradually been developed and has a good prospect of application in many fields. One of the important research directions is the IOT in the field of multimedia, which is not only related to the video collection, processing, but also requires the release of the video and people can access the video through their mobile device at any time.Traditional pattern of video release which is based on download has very high network demand, and does not support real-time access. Streaming media-based video release parttern can be a good solution to this problem. Directly encode the video which is captured from the acquisition equipment to streaming media format file and release throuth streaming media pattern, not only can effectively save network bandwidth, but also can support real-time on-demand. For the heterogeneity of video capture device and the flexibility of on-demand access needs, with the combination of the streaming media technology and the IOT technology, developing a scalable, customizable and IOT-oriented lightweight streaming media on demand system has practical significance.This paper studies the existing streaming media online video on-demand platform, analyzes the technology involved in lightweight streaming media on demand system and implement the system. The system is divided into six parts, the video capture part responsible for the collection of video data in real time, then, the collected video data is sent through the messaging and data transmission module to stream media processing modules for encoding and packaging. Then the produced streaming media files are sent to the streaming media server for the client player on-demand access. At the same time, in order to control concurrent user access, speed up the system responsiveness, the system also design and implement the on-demand streaming access control module.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part specifies the major work of the paper. Then, the second part describes the technical related to streaming media which involved in the process of system design and development. The third part is the requirement analysis section. This part of the paper explains the system’s functions in detail. The fourth part conducts a more detailed design and implementation of each module in this system, including the design and implementation of interfaces between each module. The fifth part is about system test. The final chapter of this paper presents the inadequacies and proposes the further work. Then, this paper makes a review for the work during the graduate.
