With the increase of bandwidth demand and the progress of information technology, people demand of the multimedia business more and more widely.Video encoding technology as an important part of the multimedia technology, and has already become one of the hotspots in research at home and abroad and industrial applications.Many video coding scheme is also constantly proposed and applied, but H.264Standard is the most effective codec standards.Although H.264Standard can greatly enhance the coding efficiency, complex operations could be brought huge obstacle for H.264Standard’s embedded application. Therefore, how to verify the correctness of the H.264Encoder’s function, and then verify encoder whether has the high coding performance is an important research topic.Based on the research of H.264video compression coding Standard, the thesis summarized the design of H.264codec and focused on the verification method of the encoder. Firstly, the thesis designed the verification standard and constructed two verification platforms like virtual prototyping and FPGA verification platform. Then based on this verification platform, the testcase was programmed and hardware and software co-design and verification technology was used to verify the H.264Encoder. Finally, from either the subjective or objective perspectives, the thesis verified the H.264Encoder could code correctly, the code stream can match with H.264Standard and the performance must meet the design requirements.
