In the present, the integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networksand the Internat have been constantly moving forward, closed cable TV technology, telecommunications networks with a large of users will combine with open Internettechnology, and infrastructure investment and maintenance costs will further reduce, thebusiness interaction between the three networks will be more frequent. The emergenceof a large number of applications and services enrich people’s lives, however, all ofthese business rely on server. The server-side’s design strategy and performance willdirectly affect the quality of service and user experience. This topic comes from acredible broadband multimedia test networks, combined with the triple networktechnologies, to meet user demand for video data access on multiple platforms. In viewof the linux platform stability, security, prominent networking features, and itsoutstanding performance in the server market, the subject is decided to carry out in aLinux environment.Firstly, the paper does in-depth researches of server-side network socket, the datatransfer mode, the server development model, the i/o model, the concurrency model, thecontent distribution and other related technologies, and to package some correspondingmodules that contain configuration file parsing, the internal shell, timer, thread pool, which can be reuse and reference in the subsequent implementation of the project.Secondly, this paper describes the design and implementation process of themultimedia network server, according to the design requirements and combining withthe current internet server development technologies and multimedia features, the videosystem structure is divided into user login authentication, user information management, data receiving and processing, program management, configuration management andstatus query and so on, meanwhile, make use of the development tools in the Linuxplatform to analysis and implement each module, actual test shows that the server canrun well in the multimedia experimental network. Finally, to summarize current work and analyse further research direction.
