In order to overcome the traditional problems of shared bus on chip, Network onChip (NoC) has been proposed as a new and innovative solution. With the developmentof NoC, its potential infrastructure has been extended from two-dimensions to three-dimensions. Combining the3D techniques and NoC concepts, we can build ahigh-bandwidth, low-latency, low-power-consumption System-on-Chip. Howevercommunication problems occurred in macro networks are also encountered in NoC. Sohow to ensure the quality of service (QoS) for data has been an important issue to theresearchers. And the routing algorithms act a significant role for guarantying QoS inNoC. A good routing algorithm can greatly improve the performance of QoS in NoC.Based on the theory of NoC and Time-to-Live (TTL) mechanism, this thesisresearched and implemented a3D-TTL-QoS-NoC on the3D simulation system. At thesame time, the thesis also proposed an adaptive routing algorithm to probe the shortestpath which analyze the multistage congestion information. The algorithm has increasedthe success rate of received GT packets in QoS-NoC. Specific work as follows:1. Improve the existed Message-Passing Style NoC Simulator (MSNS) to the3D-MSNS.2. Adopting the concept of TTL, build the3D-TTL-QoS-NoC simulation modelin SystemC language for soft GT service.3. Propose a new adaptive routing algorithm with control the congestioninformation to probe the shortest path. The algorithm collecting congestioninformation from adjacent nodes adopts shortest path’s adaptive routing anddynamic virtual channel technique to reduce hotspots’ congestion condition. Thus, it can increase the network throughput and reduce the latency greatly.4. Implement the simulation for the new adaptive routing algorithm on3D-TTL-QoS-NoC and analyze the performance results.
