In recent years,with the development of science and technology, machine vision is usedwidely, such as the video surveillance system, the smart home,the intelligent transportationsystem,the video conferencing system and so on. In the field of machine vision,the key point ishow to detect a moving object in real-time, stable and effective, which is worth to study and isvaluable.Developing a small and intelligent system is not only the direction of scientific research, butalso the demand of the market. So the embedded technology is very fit for detecting a movingtarget.On the base of using FPGA and Nios Ⅱ embedded system, a complete scheme is given.Three moving object detection algorithms are anglyzed and the frame difference method whichis studied carefully is used to realize the system. And than,scheme of hardware which is includecamera module,FPGA minimum system module, SRAM module,LCD module and SD moduleis gived. According to the demand,the system is divided into several function modules whichare realized by using software and hardware collaborative programming.In the end,the system isdownloaded to work.The moving object detection which is designed in this paper is realized. Using the systemNios II embedded technology that improves system processing speed and has good flexibilityand adaptability is easy to maintain and expand and shorts the development cycle. The systemis tested many times that show that this design has better anti-interference ability and can detecta moving target real time.
