How to quickly design and modify business process to make business process flexible,which can rapidly response to changes of business environment, has become more and moreimportant. Artifact-based business process modeling is gaining more and more attention fromthe academy and the industry. It’s a new data-centric mehod of business process modeling,whose advantage is that it can make changes of critical business as the main line of processdesigning, which responds to real world behavior more and is more familiar to businesspeople.From the perspective of business people, they are more willing to use the graphicalmodeling tool. They need the modeling method which can describe business needs clearly andcompletely, improve the flexibility of business processes and response to changes of businessenvironment.In the business process execution language, BPEL has been widely supportd by theindustry, which has become the standard of the execution process definition. But BPEL codeis too complicated and cumbersome. So BPEL is not suitable for business people to designbusiness process directly. In contrast, BPEL is more suitable as a language in the physicalexecution level.In this paper, the designing method of artifact-centric business process is presented,which is based on the artifact-centric business process model. The method mainly includesdesigning changes of artifacts in the process, model element and element combination. Theprocess modeling tool based on artifacts, which is named A-BPMTool, is designed tographically modeling.The implementation method is presented to translate artifact-centric business processmodels to executable BPEL. The paper introduces the system architecture, and then describesservices to operate the artifact data, rules of the control structure conversion, conversionalgorithms and log module.Through a flight booking business process, the paper introduces the detailed modeling design, implementation, and runtime simulation which include database creating, the requiredweb services realizing and BPEL deployment. And then the system is tested and the log datais analyzed for process mining and evaluation parameters. The results show that the solutionis useful for business staff to define processes, which also improves the efficiency of runtimesimulation and rapid deployment for business process.
