With the increasing advancement of network technology, as a typical represent of newly developing network media, twitter makes the medium of information and spirits exchange diversifiable. And it achieves more and more attention from people. This essay takes the theory of public sphere of Habermas as its main line, and uses the method of literature research.It starts with carding the essence and spirits of the theory of public sphere of Habermas, and illustrates the decline of public sphere in the era of mass media elaborately. And the network platform in the pretwitter era is either lack of public nature in the discussion of topics or lack of convenience in the produces of content. It seems these can not be in conformity with the characteristics of public sphere.So what characteristics do twitters of new network platform have with the development of the use of network technology in the era of twitter? To what degree are these characteristics in the conformity with the spirit and practice of public domain?According to these problems, first, it will expound the characteristics of twitter. Then compared with the elements of practice of public sphere, it will find that the characteristics of Microblogging in the spread of content, the use of platform, the focal point of subject of conversation and mutual communication agree with the requirements of open, principal and critical feature of public sphere to some extent.However, it still has some problems and dilemma in the current twitter. Such as the spread of rumor, and the alienation of the subject of speech and so on. It harms the public nature of twitter to some degree. Writer will propose corresponding tactics according to these problems and dilemma. It hopes that these tactics can help to maintain the public nature of twitter and avoid becoming the show of social elite.
