Our country has numerous cultural relics, and a large of which are exposed outdoor. As years gone, these relics have been experienced the change of environment and suffered from lots of damages, cultural relics become extremely fragile. So it is necessary to take measures for the preservation of cultural relics, and achieving the maximum extension of the life of cultural relics, as long as possible for serving the development of human civilization. Relics preservation material is commonly used in the conservation of cultural relics. With the development of research on relics preservation material, some defects of cultural relics preservation material were discoverd. These material already cannot satisfy the requirement of relics conservation. Therefore, research and development of new preservation material with outstanding performance has been an important research direction. In this paper, the commonly used relics preservation materials WD-10Paraloid B72had been modified by nano TiO2, includes three parts:The first part:dispersion method of nano TiO2particles. Eight factors affecting the dispersivity of nano particles were choiced and analyzed with the experimental results by orthogonal layout L27(313). The precipitation rate of nano TiO2was served as an index,in addition, uv-vis spectra of nano TiO2dispersion-liquid was made, the results show that the No.12experimental conditions has the best dispersing effects. The No.12experimental conditions are as follows:coupling agent was KH550, and the dosage of KH550was about1%of nano TiO2, emulsifier was OP-10, and the dosage of OP-10was about3%of nano TiO2, ultrasonic time was30min at30℃, stirring speed was8000r/min, stirring time was1h at70℃.The second part:the research on WD-10modified by nano TiO2. At first, WD-10modified with different concentrations of nano TiO2were applied to stone samples, Parameters such as uv-vis spectra, water absorbability, water repellence, gas permeability, invariability, UV accelerated ageing test were investigated, from which we picked out WT05、 WT10with good effect into protecting the samples of Dazu rock carvings. According to the environment characteristics of DaZu, water repellence, the bending strength, invariability, artificial climate ageing, SEM analysis were tested, and finally determined that WT10with the best performance and can be used for the preservation of stone relics of DaZu rock carvings.The third part:the research on Paraloid B72modified by nano TiO2. At first, flims of Paraloid B72modified with different concentrations of nano TiO2were investigated, According to the tests of water resistance, uv-vis spectra, ATR-FTIR and SEM, BT05, BT10were picked out into protecting the simulated colored drawing samples of Dazu rock carvings, and some aging tests were investigated according to the environment characteristics of DaZu. The results indicate that the modified material BT05had excellent performance in ultraviolet aging test and would ameliorate the problem that B72can deepen the color of the colored drawing samples. Therefore BT05was suitable for the preservation of colored relics of DaZu rock carvings.
