With the widespread of internet, the relationship between people and thenetwork has become intimate. It plays an important role in wherever like personalobtain of new knowledge, modern business management, official works and so forth.Therefore, network security and management are so significant that it catch a lot ofattentions.The network management seems to be more and more important and efficientnetwork management decides the reliable process of its security. During the processof network managing, network administers try to monitor the physical links betweenequipments, to view the running state through parallel computing for strengtheningthe security control, hence, the research of topology algorithm is a very importantacademic direction of network management so far.First, this thesis expounds the importance of network management; enumeratethe common technique and metrology found by topology.Second, it analysis the sub-network topology discover algorithm of data linkslayer detailedly and systematically. And it discusses the main methods to solve therouter alias problem in network layer topology discovery process.Furthermore, with regard to the limitation of VLAN switching technologysupposed by the topology algorithm nowadays, In the Breithart based on the addressdelivered to the port directly connected based on the determined theorem, AnImprovement for multiple VLAN switching topology discovery algorithm.It goeslike that firstly with the algorithm we can exclude some ports groups which aren’tconnected directly. Then we filter those ports that are possibly connected until wecould find the connecting ports group which will lead to a network topologystructure. In this thesis, the author also deduces the algorithm with topologyconnecting chart provided.It proves that this new algorithm can be used to search the topology inmulti_VLAN switching networks precisely and through verification of theconnecting map, Through the real test of the network environment, use the addressof the complete set forward, fast and accurate constructed out several vlans segmentof the network topology,this algorithm is turn out to be available. And finally a newtopology discovers system has been found. The veracity and efficiency of this topology discover system have been verified by the multi-VLAN switchingalgorithm in a real network environment.
