Generations of radio and television networks will support the three major networks:the telephone network, television network, the Internet, the so-called "triple play". With step by step process of "fiber instead of copper" and the rapid rise of FTTB(Fiber to the Building), the current backbone network bandwidth to meet the basic triple play needs. But the rate-limit of the existing access network, become a bottleneck in the development of business integration. Owing to bandwidth, construction costs, re-wiring, protection of existing facilities and user acceptability, existing access technology is difficult to provide a viable solution. At the same time, china’s widely distributed cable networks has a wide bandwidth, large capacity, good anti-jamming and other unique advantages. In addition to the860MHz bandwidth for radio and television channels, there are a lot of bandwidth can be used for communication. If can take advantage of the cable television network from the corridor to the user’s home the last100meters of broadband access solutions, you do not need to re-wiring can provide multi-service broadband access. In this context, China put forward high-performance coaxial cable network technology with independent intellectual, known as HINOC (High performance Network Over Coax).This paper briefly introduces HINOC system, in accordance with the provisions of its protocol, carried out a detailed analysis the function and operating modes of the public part of the sublayer(CPS) and the convergence sublayer(CS) in MAC layer. The CPS layer using the TDD/TDMA technology to complete the core functions of channel allocation and nodes accepted. The CS layer transform high-level data unit to HINOC MAC layer data unit. Next,from the implementation point of view, the MAC layer is divided into modules, The main modules are forwarding module, queue management module, the control frame processing module, scheduling module and nodes accepted module. Then, uses Hash table, stacks and linked list to complete each module and the work processes of each module. Finally, using the IXP425development board and Linux system, build a simulation platform to verify the correctness and performance of the MAC layer.From the testing of embedded test platform, the designed MAC layer can achieve the basic requirements of HINOC system. End-to-end users’ data transmission rate can reach50Mbps. A HINOC node with the PC as a video-on-demand server and the other HINOC node with the PC for video playback can stably playback MPEG-2HD video for a long time.
