The traditional computer-aided design(CAD) is an independent design model of a single computer, the individual design mode is low efficiency with a longer development cycle, which can not meet the needs of future competition in the market has been gradually revealed. In order to adapt to the rapidly changing market requirements a distributed platforms which oriented to the computer supported cooperative work(CSCW) field and be able to run on different operating systems was proposed in this paper. Through this distributed platforms, a distributed peer-to-peer networks can be setted up with the computers that conduct an independent design. It means that the computes in the peer-to-peer networks can work together. This article focuses on the research and implementation of the distributed peer-to-peer platform. In the following parts, the details are introduced:Firstly, the principle of distributed peer-to-peer network analyzed, including the advantages and disadvantages of some typical peer-to-peer network model, and also the difficulties of the current peer-to-peer technology.Secondly, in order to solve the serious network congestion problems, which brought by the most current distributed softwares using TCP when communication with others, this paper proposed a new type of communication protocol which named uTP to replace the traditional TCP in a distributed network. A detailed introduces and analysis of the uTP worked, which inculud connection establishment, acknowledgement mechanism, error control and congestion management, was did, so that can ensure the maintainability of the uTP protocol. Finally, a demo is designed to demonstrate the feasibility, stability and expandability of the distributed platforms. And the distributed platforms include four modules, such as network communication module, messages processing module, peers management module and resource management module, these modules based on uTP protocol, and used XML script language and database management technology in it.The research of this thesis with a view to the future prospects for the development of collaborative working model, both with usability and fore sightedness. The distributed peer-to-peer technology used for CSCW fields provides a low-cost way of collaborative design system to achieve.
