Design And Implementation Of CMMB Mobile TV Software System Based On Android

Mobile TV is a new network service, which appears under the background of the integration between telecommunications network and broadcast television network. And it refers to allowing users to watch TV through mobile phones and other portable terminal devices and to do some interactive operations. Mobile TV contains two types: traffic and no traffic. The traffic Mobile TV refers to downloading the media data to the local directly through some software using the wireless mobile communication network and then playing. And the traffic-free mobile TV refers to watching programs not through wireless communication network, such as CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) mobile TV.CMMB mobile TV is a product jointly launched by China Mobile and China Broadcasting Co..Ltd. using the CMMB technology. Multimedia signal is sent to users in the way of broadcast transmission, thus it will not generate any traffic charges.CMMB mobile TV provides multimedia content for users through the broadcast networks of China Broadcasting Co.,Ltd. while taking advantage of the authentication management system of China Mobile communication network and the user management system of China Broadcasting Co.,Ltd. to complete the user authentication, authorization and management. And users can subscribe/unsubscribe business, watch television programs,etc through mobile terminal.This paper analyzes the overview of the development of mobile TV services in recent years, and discusses the mobile TV software system based on android. Besides, combined with the specification for mobile multimedia broadcasting mobile TV services, the paper analyzes the CMMB mobile TV’s various functional modules and performance requirements, and then begins to design for hardware and software system. The hardware design contains the choice of application processors, digital receiver module. And the software system design contains the application starts, the channel to broadcast, the program search, etc. As one of the project team members, the author is involved in the system requirements analysis, system architecture design, and completes the design and coding for the access and parsing of network datas. Finally, the paper does some tests and performance analysis with the CMMB mobile TV solution.
